When Azalea didn't respond James knew he was a fool. After all what was he thinking? And that clarification. It made him sound like that one guy still sitting at the bar at last call. Which wasn't the case at all. He really liked Azalea, but not in a romantic way. She was just a really great friend and the two of them just got along so well together that he thought that maybe, just maybe she would say "yes" and the two of them could go as friends. He knew some of the others were doing it, and since he didn't really have that much experience with teen only dances he thought it was a common thing. Maybe he was wrong. However who was he kidding? Everybody liked Azalea. It wouldn't have surprised him if some other lovesick prince asked her first. That would be just his luck, if this was the case he really would be a fool.
"Isla's down there!?" James reiterated out of shock and disbelief as the carpet descended towards the forest floor. The chaos that was consuming the village seemed so unreal, so distant, that it was hard to imagine that anyone he knew was lost in that swarm. In his mind all his friends were safe back in the school buildings doing who knows what, but James knew it was just as likely that Grove, Eli, Briar, and Admiral were in that crowd as well. He hoped they weren't oh he sincerely hoped they weren't.
As soon as they were close enough to the ground, James leaped off the carpet and took off towards the mass of students leaving the forest with Azalea not too far behind him. The protective part of him wanted to go search the crowd for Isla or any of his other friends and make sure they were safe. Since after all this mess here was far from safe. Someone could easy be trampled in that crowd, and James would never forgive himself if someone he knew ended up getting hurt when he was only a few meters away from the chaos. Even if it wasn't his fault.
Vaguely he was aware of Azalea answering his question, and a smile broke out on his face despite the situation. So he wasn't a fool after all! He slowed down a bit to let Azalea catch up with him, but as he did his smile faltered for a moment when he realized just how she worded her answer. Was she saying yes to going with him? Or was she saying that yes, it was going to be fun? Oh his poor mind was so confused, but there was more important things at hand rather than a dance.
"Do you see her anywhere?" He asked turning his attention once more to the problem at hand, finding Isla amid this chaos. This was probably going to be like a needle in a haystack.
