Appearance: Briar is tall, menacing and slightly terrifying to look at. He suffers from 'resting bitchface' so even when he's standing doing nothing he looks intimidating - add to that the overabundance of muscles and the effortless way he lifts, throws or otherwise manhandles, well, anything, and you have a recipe for someone who scares people no matter what he's doing.
When first at school he used to try to make himself look small, to walk hunched and be careful with his workouts so he didn't get too much muscle. Unfortunately, the older he got the bigger he just kept getting, and eventually he embraced it. There was no point denying, he was just designed to be a big guy. He walks a lot more confidently these days, and he wears clothes that show off his muscles instead of hiding them. He favours vests and t-shirts most of the time, although he's not arrogant about his looks so he'll happily wear longer sleeved shirts and jackets when the weather requires it. He favours darker colours and plainer clothes, a rejection of his mother and aunts' obsession with bright colours (and the fact that his shirts seemed to swap between pink and blue, sometimes while he was wearing them.)
The dark clothes are almost remnants from the rebellion he went through in his teenage years, rejecting the feminine way he'd been brought up, he got tattoos and did his level best to grow a beard and generally tried to be as stereotypically manly as possible. That need has calmed down in recent years and he's a bit more secure in himself. It still means he's fairly manly, he generally has a bit of scruff (though these days mostly due to laziness) and his choice of clothing means his tattoos are often on show, not to mention the muscles, but he's not trying so hard.
He is a fairy, so it's possible he has wings, but nobody's ever seen them.
Personality: Briar is quiet, terse and inscrutable. He seems constantly grumpy and rarely does anything to dispel that myth, when he speaks it's usually in as few words as possible and his tone is often gruff and angry-sounding. If you asked anybody else what his personality was like they'd probably say he was generally scary, mean and grumpy.
In truth, he's actually very sweet, caring, compassionate and doesn't quite understand how to get anybody to stay around long enough to make friends with them. He's very shy so he's too awkward to properly make friends, and he often finds that he can never find the right words to express himself. He wants to use his powers for good and likes to help people, but doesn't get to know people long enough to find out how he could use his magic to help them.
Anybody meeting him when he was doing anything fairy related, in his classes and so-forth, they would assume he absolutely hated everything fairy and feminine, a few years ago they would have been right, but these days he actually quite enjoys the powers he has, and likes that he can use them for good.
Generally, he's just not very good at expressing the way he really is.
Powers: he is a fairy, so he has the associated powers. He mostly needs his wand to use them, though in a pinch he can use them without. The wand, of course, is a delicate twirly glittering thing and most spells are accompanied with, yes, more glitter. He generally avoids using magic but these days it's more out of a sense it shouldn't be used for frivolous things than out of any sparkle associated embarrassment.
He can use the magic for a lot of things, it doesn't have very many limits in terms of application, although it's not the strongest of power at the moment, so only small things are really within his abilities. It's generally stronger when he's using it to help people, and one of his best powers is blessing people, these spells are particularly effective when given as a birthday gift or similar.

Look into the Past
History: A few years after Aurora had grown up, the fairies began to miss having a child around the place. Despite the problems they sometimes had, it was nice to hear the patter of little feet in the house. It was never really explained to Briar where he came from or who his father was, and he never really asked, Flora was his mother and Fauna and Merryweather were his aunts - though the three of them all had a fairly equal hand in raising him.
The fairies didn't really know much about raising a little boy, so he was raised pretty much exactly the same as they'd raised Aurora, brought up to be polite, sweet and caring. He was taught to respect nature and love animals, and he found that he got on very well with them - the other children from the kingdom were a little intimidated by his already large size and they tended to make fun of his strange ways (from a safe distance of course). He preferred the company of animals, they were much less cruel.
Despite his loneliness, life was relatively simple. Sometimes they made visits to the castle, where he would awkwardly hang in the corner while his mother cooed over the queen and the young princess simultaneously. He thought she was beautiful, but he never dared approach her.
When he was 16, his mother decided to send him to Seacombe Halpworth, to meet more people (as despite the fact he'd never mentioned it, they certainly noticed his lack of friends) and to learn more magic. By this point he'd accepted the fact he was never going to be anything other than intimidating, so he was trying a different tactic to make people like him. Being amongst others had highlighted how strange his upbringing was, so he started rebelling against it, rejecting anything feminine and trying to be as manly as possible. He found it didn't really help him make friends, in fact it seemed to drive people away even more. After a couple of years he realised how childish and stupid it was to reject the way he'd been brought up and that there was nothing wrong with femininity. He's more mature now, and he's settled into being a lot more comfortable in his own skin, but unfortunately he still doesn't really have any friends, and now he's out of ideas how to get any, but he intends to try.

Tell us a Story
RP Sample: Briar looked at his watch, frowning thoughtfully for a moment as he considered the time before his next class. Most of his other classmates had already left the room, rushing out to talk to friends or meet up with them before their next lessons, but he didn't have anyone to meet up with - not any person, anyway.
He did have somewhere he'd like to be though, and if he hurried he'd make it in time, so he grabbed his bag and rushed from the classroom. It was easy enough to dodge through the crowds, he was tall enough to see the best route to take and intimidating enough that people got the hell out of his way.
He headed away from the school buildings and out into the woods, digging through his bag as he walked into the trees. He looked up at a chittering noise and a rare smile crossed his face briefly at the squirrel - no - squirrels perching on the branches above him.
"Already know, huh?" he asked the creatures, pulling a small ziplock bag out and opening it. Inside was the last couple of slices of toast he'd taken from the breakfast table. One of the squirrels jumped onto his shoulder and he tutted, lifting a hand and gently plucking it off and placing it back on the branch. "Not fair," he chided, breaking the bread into pieces and scattering it on the ground. The squirrels scampered down the branches to grab bits, birds flying down to join them.
He watched the animals contentedly, not feeling any need to do anything else. He liked animals, they expected nothing from him except to be fed, and that was easy enough to understand and provide. One of the birds took their piece of bread and flew up onto his head to eat it. He stayed carefully still, trying not to move any other part of his body as he lifted his hand to check his watch. Ah, now he was running late, and there was still a bird on his head. He whistled, lifting his hand a little higher for the bird, waiting patiently until it hopped onto his hand and he could hold it up to the tree branch.
Even after the bird had left, he didn't move as quickly as he probably should, he backed away slowly so as not to startle any of the still-feeding animals, only turning and breaking into a run once he was far enough away from them. Luckily, the teacher was unlikely to say anything about his lateness, a lot of them were just as intimidated by him as the other students were.
