Although Louis' heart may often pine for french food, or at least the semi-french food he grew up with, he didn't eat at Gusteau's very often. Also by very often Louis meant maybe once in a blue moon, at most. Why? Well simply because he was an orphan who didn't have a penny to his name. He didn't have the steady cash flow like those snotty little strumpets all high and mighty underneath their precious gold crowns. It wasn't really fair in his opinion that they got not one, but two weekly allowances to spend like it was water slipping through their fingers. Everyone should get the same allowance and that would be that, but no. Those brats just had to complain and whine to their parents and poof more money for new dress, fancier shoes, or some other useless things that bored Louis. Besides didn't half of their stories have someone who was like him before they got a crown? Snow White had been a scullery maid, Cinderella a maid, and Aurora had been raised in a forest. They should know what it feels like to have rags for clothes and the envy that built up inside them when they saw someone walk by them with silk and taffeta. However they just had to let the gems get to their heads, and their children's too.
However just like the more spunky and rebellious royal gems, Louis knew the importance of at least looking sophisticated in certain occasions and this was certainly one of those occasions. After all just how many times in his life was a penniless orphan from the streets of New Orleans was going to have a meal with a princess for Christ's sake. Not too often mind you. So as Louis entered the fancy restaurant, he at least looked the part. He done some digging in his closet and managed to find an old "monkey suit" that was once his father's. Okay so maybe it didn't exactly fit -too tight in the shoulders as well as both the pant legs and sleeves being far too long, but it'll do. After all Gusteau's was strictly formal attire only. Bah no doubt they spent too much time fraternizing with the little gems. He would've preferred a more casual locale for this meeting, but it was either this place or the polka dots. Besides he might be able to do a little more flattering in French here since as Isla not so regally stated, she only spoke Whale and English. If this rendezvous wasn't so serious for him - like an entire royal treasury serious- he might've done something dastardly like make her order a fish or something like that, but there was gold to be gained here. Louis was going to have to behave which was much more easily said than done.
Louis slid into the booth seat that the waiter showed to him to and waited for Isla to appear. It was already three and she was running late. No surprise there rules didn't apply to royals after all. So he glanced over the menu and waited for the princess to appear. Hopefully she wouldn't take too long though. Louis was getting hungry.
