Thomas Brodie-Sangster
Appearance: When it comes to looks, Danny takes after his father for sure. After all he has caucasian skin, light brown hair, and has the gangly frame his nerdy father is famous for. It’s quite surprising though that Danny has these traits, it’s not quite the signature for Atlantean citizens after all with the dark skin and white hair. In fact outside of Danny and his father, no one in Atlantis has this complete outsider look, even Danny’s siblings have the white hair! So with this in mind, it has been kind of safe to assume that Danny is indeed a trueborn son of Milo and Kida, not as if he wasn’t, however that never stopped some of the citizens who wanted to return to the “traditional” way of life from proclaiming that Danny was not a true Atlantean because of the so called “foreign” blood running through his veins. Which is completely not true. His father is as much as an Atlantean as everyone else and so what his youngest son may have his paler skin tone, hazel colored eyes, and hair color to match? It doesn’t make him any different. It just shows that he’s the living embodiment of what his father had brought with him when his expedition found the lost city of Atlantis. He’s just the blend of Milo’s world, the land above the city, and Kida’s home, his home. He is not a foreigner in his own land. He just can’t be. Also like all Atlanteans, he keeps his crystal close to him at all times. Though this is not a guarantee you will always see it. Sometimes he will wear it around his neck in plain view for all to admire and question, but this is mostly on those days where he wants to show off. All other times it will be either tucked under his shirt or stuck onto a bracelet or a hidden anklet. It doesn’t really matter where it is, just as long as he has it he’ll stay young and have the ability to use it’s powers. In addition he also prefers to not wear shoes and will often forego them in favor of going barefoot. He finds it easier to run in and it’s just easier for him. His clothing style also reflects that, in which that there is no style. Mostly his outfits just consist of whatever was clean and in arm’s reach when he woke up that morning. You also won’t catch him dead in anything tight fitting either since he’s a rather sporty child and you can’t run in skinny jeans after all!
Finally, Danny speaks with a very strange accent that can only be described as Atlantean. It sounds sort of like it’s British, German, and French all mixed into one, but at the same time it doesn’t which can be confusing at times when people question him about it. Simply the best way to describe it would be like what his mother said to his father eons ago, “You speak it through your nose.” He is also fluent in practically every language known to man, only because the Atlantean language being a root dialect or Mother language as some call it. However this doesn’t come naturally to him, but instead it’s only because of the necklace, but no one needs to know that do they? If he is caught without his crystal he won’t be able to speak anything other than Atlantean and basic levels of English. (He keeps promising himself he’ll learn to speak without it, but he’s too lazy and embarrassed to ask someone to help him.) An exception to this though would be Russian though. For some reason that just absolutely kills his abilities, but that won’t be a problem since so far nobody’s from the frozen wasteland. Also in addition to this he can’t read English with or without the crystal, so he has to rely on notes he takes by ear and his special textbooks written in Atlantean just for him.
Personality: Danny may take after his father when it comes to looks, but when it comes to personality he most definitely takes after his mother. All in all, Danny is a rebellious teenager who thinks he knows all there is to know about the world, but clearly he’s wrong and being kicked out of Atlantis has done nothing to change that. He’s unafraid to bump heads with authority figures and roll his eyes when they try to reprimand him. He’ll curse them out when their backs are turned, and flip them the bird when they aren’t looking. Danny doesn’t care about the consequences from the teachers or the council since after all what’s an extra hour in a classroom and it’s not like they can actually send him home or anything. He just simply does not care what happens to him anymore and besides he doesn’t see the point to all these princely lessons or whatever. Some may play this off as him trying to hard to reject the image of who society is trying to make him be, and in some points this is true. When he first came to the Academy he was trying too hard, but now it’s easy to be a jerk and the epitome of a bad, bratty prince.
In truth this is all a coping mechanism for him. If he shuts the world out, if he pretends he doesn’t care, then it makes it easier for him to suppress his emotions over the events that lead his arrival at the academy. In his mind if Danny can convince the world that he doesn’t care than that will make it so in the real world. But truth be told, Danny misses his home terribly. After all Atlantis is his home, not this upper world where he can’t speak the language without his crystal necklace and there’s no Ketaks in sight. Because of his desperate attempts to hide this, he’ll have mood swings often that vary between anger and depression when things don’t go his way. Also due to the turmoil that led him here, he’s also become a bit a of a control freak. Danny is always trying to find an upper hand in any situation he’s in, from in the classroom to on the pitch and everything in between. As an intended consequence of this and his don’t-care attitude, that he’s not really all that aware of, those around him, but not a friend regard him as a bit of a bitch and will actively avoid him. However this doesn’t really bother him too much since he is nice to his friends and to him they’re the only people here who are actually real and not fake like all these other royals he has to spend time with.
Danny’s also super competitive when it comes to sports and is always the one to dive in headfirst to any sport idea, eager to learn the rules and come out on top. He loves the distraction sports offers and how it makes him feel afterwards. It makes him feel as if he’s powerful and if he’s on the winning team it’ll satisfy that craving instinct for power he has. He’ll try to cajole anyone and everyone into playing with him or against him, depending on the sport and the person, and most people who know him says this is where he’s at his most kind. Until you actually step onto that pitch and he goes into the frame of mind for Beast-Mode Dannahiedakah where he’ll try to crush you in the game. He can get really into it sometimes get a little emotional if he wins (elated, treats it as if he won a war) or loses (angered, sulk over it for days.) But in time he’ll come around and admit it’s just a game before he starts to laugh it off.
Finally he has mixed feelings about his family. He obviously hates them for “abandoning” him, but at the same time he misses them and loves them still so he’ll keep the letters they send tucked away in his pillowcase, save for the ones his brother sends. Danny can’t forgive what Amir said when he left so he ignores everything that comes from him. So as of now he has no idea his older brother is coming to the academy and it most certainly will not be pretty when he finds out he is.
Powers: It isn’t so much of a power so to speak, but being born an Atlantean, Danny still has his crystal which is far more powerful than anyone could ever hope to truly understand. First and foremost the crystal extends his lifespan by thousands upon thousands of years. In fact both he and his brother Amir are actually hundreds of years old, but at the same time they both are really fourteen and {age} respectively. (Time in Atlantis passes differently than time in the “upper world” so to speak. However at the school they should both age at the same rate as their peers.) In addition to a longer life, the crystal has the power to heal wounds, even life threatening wounds, within seconds. That is if you are not perceived to be a threat. If you are considered to be a threat, the crystal will not heal you. In fact it will do something more terrifying than death itself. It will turn you into a crystal. He doesn’t know much about how that works though. He was told that could happen and it has before, but no one would explain it in detail to him. Everyone said it was far too horrifying to be described. However though Danny’s never seen it do this and as far as he’s concerned he’s only used to heal bruises or cuts he acquired during his antics.
As mentioned earlier the crystal also gives him the ability to speak and understand any spoken language, but it doesn’t extend to reading. Well mostly any spoken language… but that’s besides the point. There are most certainly more unknown uses for the crystal, but it’s unlikely Danny or Amir will discover them while they are at Seacombe, so for right now this is all the little crystal can do.

Look into the Past
History: Danny is the youngest of three children born to Milo and Kida the rulers of Atlantis, and from the moment he was born it was so blatantly obvious that Danny was different than his siblings. After all Danny was born pale and brown haired. Both of his siblings were neither when they were born. Certainly at first it was a bit of a surprise, but it didn't really matter to the new parents figuring since now they had two sons and a daughter to raise. They had already hands full to worry too much about why their youngest son didn't have the "Atlantean" look. However the council didn't have the same issues that the royal family had, they had the time to brood over this question, but after a while more pressing matters overtook their concern. It didn't really matter if Danny looked like Milo, he was a prince and with any luck he would also have his father's brain. That way he could also serve Atlantis by helping his father unlock more secrets of the crystal. That was at least the hope everyone had. Boy where they wrong.
As the children aged it soon became clear that even though Danny may take after his father when it came to looks, the same could not be said for his personality. From the moment Danny could walk on his own it was painfully clear that he was a curious little troublemaker. His favorite victim for these tricks however had to be his older brother, Amir. The boy was everything Danny was not, he had the Atlantean look, he had Milo's brain, and he behaved perfectly. The brothers were polar opposites, and like all children who have practically nothing in common the two of them were always at each other's throats. Danny did his best to annoy Amir when they were younger and more often than not he succeeded. However as the two of them grew up and branched out into their own interests, Danny no longer found it as fun to bug his older brother once he discovered a love for sports that his older brother just didn't have.
From the time he was little Danny just had too much energy in him, so in an effort to keep their sanity and have the little boy calm down a little bit, Milo and Kida let Danny become invested in active games, which turned into organized sports and in no time at all the black sheep of the royal family became quite an athlete. Milo introduced him to widely recognized sports in the world above like soccer and baseball, while Kida showed him strictly Atlantean sports. One of these was Ketak ball which resembled the game of Quidditch with a few minor changes. First off obviously there's no broom, but instead Ketaks (the fish vehicles) were used and the bludgers as well as snitches were not involved in the game, but beyond that the game was essentially the same. Danny became quite the star at this game. So while his brother was tucked away in some library, and his sister was doing lord knows what, Danny could always be found at the pitch practicing for the next game or just messing around with his team mates, even going as far as to purposely avoid his princely responsibilities. He skipped lessons, avoided public events, and didn't care about upholding the royal image. Though it might have caused some strife with his parents, it wasn't really a big deal to them because at the time Danny was only 12, this was expected preteen stuff and they would have honestly been surprised if Danny didn't try and reject the prince's crown.
However this stuff didn't slide by the council who had been secretly keeping a careful eye on the brown haired lad. The councilors were mostly traditional, and although they embraced the return of Atlantis's lost culture they did not want the contamination of outsiders. They tolerated Milo and the expedition members only because they were the ones to help bring this change back, but his son was a different story. Danny was a pain to everyone, he ignored his responsibilities, and beyond Ketak ball he did not contribute to Atlantean society like his siblings did. They didn't like Danny because he was different, but at first there was nothing he could do because he was the prince. However there came the day where he screwed up and let them have the opportunity to do something about it, and by god they did do something about the black sheep of Atlantis.
One day Danny and his friends were down at the pitch, messing around like athletic twelve year old boys do. However quickly just messing around turned into an extreme version of Ketak Ball which made the entire city of Atlantis their pitch. The little troublemakers zoomed in between buildings, through the market square, and flew up into the air tossing the ball around from ketak to ketak with little regard for the path of destruction left in their wake. For what did they care? They were just a bunch of pre-teen boys playing a game and since Danny was one of those boys, they all felt rather untouchable. Sure the merchants could swear and curse at them, but would he really take action against the crowned prince and risk the boy's wrath? Yeah it was a very slim chance for the boys it was just fun and games as they played, but that all came crashing down when Danny lost control of his Ketak and crashed into one of the ancient buildings covered in untranslated runes.
Luckily Danny himself was okay, he just had a few bruises and a couple of scrapes that he was able to heal with his crystal, but the same could not be said for his precious Ketak and the building he had hit. The ketak was ruined, the front of the flying fish had been flattened from the impact and it wouldn't turn on when Danny tried. The building on the other hand, there was now a great number of cracks in the side of the building and a rather large slab fell from it's home, obliterating itself once it hit the ground, the untranslated runes lost forever.
For once Danny was actually sorry for what he did, well only destroying the Ketak, but it didn't matter. This was the proof the council needed to rid themselves from this little menace forever. For the first time in Atlantean history, the council summoned Danny for a trial before them and his parents were not permitted to help their son. It doesn't take a detective to figure out what happened next, they convicted him of destroying the runes and banished from Atlantis. His parents tried to change their minds, but it was done. As far as the council was concerned their were only two royal children.
Arrangements were swiftly made for Danny to go to the upper world and live with Mr. Whitmore which to some may have seemed like the opportunity of a lifetime, but to Danny this was the worst possible punishment that could have been created. Not only was he being torn from his home, but there wouldn't even be the promise of sports to distract him from the pain. To add salt to the wound, the trial was kept secret from anyone who wasn't in the council chamber that day, including his brother who for some odd reason was somewhat jealous of him. Danny didn't understand why in that one week he had left in Atlantis, but it became clear when the gang appeared on the doorstep on Atlantis to collect Danny. As the boy piled his bags into the advanced submarines with tears welling in his eyes, his older brother congratulated him of all things. As if this was some sort of prize! Didn't Amir realize that Danny was never coming back? Needless to say, Danny's goodbye hug with his brother was short compared to the long ones he had with his parents and his sister. Then it was time to go, Danny tried his hardest not to cry as the group left the city, but it was no use. For the first few days of the journey he did little more than cry, hide, and sleep.
Due to this schedule, the trip passed quickly and before Danny knew it he was in the infamous upper world, being left on some old man's doorstep like an unwanted puppy. To his surprise Mr. Whitmore was not some bore like the boy expected him to be. His house was a treasure trove of old artifacts and other things that would catch a boy's interest, but at first Danny didn't want to have anything to do with it. At first all he did was sulk in his room, and appear at mealtimes, but the eccentric skillionaire managed to break down Danny's shell a bit and slowly managed to pull him out of the state of depression he had placed himself in. Mr. Whitmore told him stories from his youth and introduced the boy to more games once he divulged the fact that he loved sports. He also homeschooled the boy, claiming that he could be better than any teacher and it was true. His house was just one large textbook. However Milo, who was keeping in touch with Danny through Mr. Whitmore, didn't quite trust the old man to make sure that Danny was learning what he needed too, so he quietly suggested that his son went off to boarding school, in order for his son to receive a fully rounded education. Mr. Whitmore had to agree since Milo was still technically the boy's father even though he may be the guardian.
So that's how this former prince of Atlantis found himself at the esteemed Seacombe Halpworth where he blended into the social structure with little difficultly because of his love of sports and how he quickly found himself on many sport teams. That was when he was thirteen, and a year has passed since then so now he's fairly adjusted to life at this school even though he knows nothing about the language. He hasn't caught himself up in any of the drama at the school, but that will almost certainly will change soon since Danny's brother Amir is coming to the school too and he hadn't forgiven his elder brother yet for the things he said that fateful day not too long ago.

Tell us a Story
RP Sample: Danny might be no good in the classroom, but he was by far one of the best athletes this wretched academy had ever seen! Once the final bell rang at the end of the day releasing the students from their daily tortures Danny could always be found running to the Olympus building to change and hit the field. Which of course was where he was now all decked out in his baseball uniform (since that was the current sport that was in season at Seacombe) on the pitch killing time before practice. Anyone who wanted to find him only had to follow the steady, almost rhythmic, metallic thwack of his baseball bat to find this sandy haired boy.
He was currently in the batting cage, working on both his aim and his problems with the talented coach supervising the prince off on the side, however Danny took no notice of the man with silver hair, and instead was entirely focused on the machine in front of him and his goal to tire his arms until their ache was all he could think about. His bright blue crystal bounced against his skin underneath his shirt, glowing slightly through the fabric. Danny wanted nothing more than to rip it off while he angrily smacked the balls with a stick, but he knew he couldn’t. That was one of the many problems that were pissing him off today. He hated the fact that he relied so heavily on such a tiny crystal. Without it anything he said was gibberish, and he wouldn’t be able to understand what everyone said around him. He hated that, and he hated that there was no one who spoke Atlantean at the school to help him learn how to speak at the very least English, but Danny just of course had to be one of the first Atlanteans to be kicked out of his home city so of course no one could help him. Even so Danny wasn’t sure if he could be helped, his thoughts and words were always in Atlantean too. The necklace just happened to translate for anyone who was listening.
Stupid School. Thwack! Stupid Necklace. Thwack! Stupid. Thwack! Stupid. Thwack!
He didn’t even realize how tired he was getting until the coach came out onto the field and turned off the machine, where the bat promptly dropped to the ground, with him finally becoming aware of their aching protest. Danny didn’t think the sore bundles of mass could even pick it up again, but that didn’t matter because he could see the rest of the team waiting on one side of the pitch for him to get over there for warmups. “Let’s go Daniel.” The coach said gruffly as the boy began to walk over to the others. He picked up to a jog after that before growling under his breath in his native tongue in reaction to the wrong name being used, “It’s Dannahiedakah.”
However nobody heard him and once Danny got to his place, the team went to work.
