Alexis Bledel
Appearance: Gigi cares about her appearance. A lot. She has been dieting since she was old enough to know what a carb is, she knows exactly what exercises are needed for perfectly toned abs, legs and bum, and how often to rotate them in order to retain the perfect body. Her flat stomach, pert bottom and perfectly sized thighs are her greatest achievement to date, and the fact that she has tasted chocolate only once in her life is a sacrifice she is willing to make.
Alexis dresses in order to flatter her figure, and show off her best physical qualities at all times. After all, as her father has drummed into her since she was a child, girls are good for one thing - marrying a man far superior to them in looks, personality, intelligence and prowess. Gigi has known her whole life that her job is to look good - very good - and prepare herself to take care of her man's every whim. Gigi is usually seen in stylish skirts and tops, but always following the cardinal rule - legs or chest. She will occasionally be seen wearing trousers, but only tight skinny jeans, with knee high boots and a low cut top. Following her mother's style, she prefers to keep legs hidden and ample cleavage on show, and owns very few tops with a high neckline. Her favourites tend to be tops which sit off the shoulder, showing plenty of flawless skin.
Rather than inheriting her mother's blonde locks, Gigi takes after her father more, with long, dark hair which she tends to leave loose and flowing over her shoulders. She has also inherited her father's intense blue eyes, which sit starkly in her pale face, the contrast with her dark hair making them one of the first things people notice about her. With her mother's help she has learnt to work this to her advantage; she has perfected the art of coy looks under long, fluttering eyelashes.
Personality: Gigi is a generally happy and fun person to be around - although heaven help you if you take something she wants. She has a mean streak the size of her father's sizeable neck, and that's saying something. Despite her father's overwhelming disappointment at her being born a useless girl, rather than a strapping young boy, like him, he eventually grew rather fond of her, and taught her everything he knew - within reason, of course. She is just a girl, after all.
She can be terribly dramatic, and has grown up thoroughly spoilt, so she expects to get whatever she wants, whenever she wants it. And due to her teachings in the arts of flirting, coyness and manipulating members of the opposite sex, she usually gets whatever she wants. She has a mean streak which can manifest itself in various forms, from typical bullying Mean Girl, to murderous demon from hell, so it's best to try and stay on her good side. However, despite the flaws inherited from her father, there is a lot of her mother in her, and Gigi is generally ditsy, giggly and boy-obsessed. And when we say obsessed, we mean it - Gigi doesn't have crushes. She has full-on, stalker-tendancy obsessions. From notebooks covered in hearts and initials to memorised schedule and popping up at every corner. It can be scary.
Underneath all this, well, Gaston-ness, is a sweet girl who feels like there should be more to life that men, fashion and make-up. She is overwhelmingly loyal to her girl-friends and despite her obsessions, is slightly fearful of the opposite sex. Growing up in a home where Father's word is law, and the punishment for breaking it was usually something physical, Gigi would rather put off her father's desire to see her married off as long as possible. She adores her father, and she is his princess, but a deep part of her is terrified of ending up married to a man like him. Because of that, she takes her learning seriously, despite not being the brainiest in the bunch. She works hard, and tries hard, is desperate to please and truly wants to do well. If things aren't going quite the way she'd like, however, she's not averse to a few underhand tactics.

Look into the Past
History: Gigi was born in a provincial town in France, she's lived a provincial life, and she has known her place since birth. She is her father's little princess, yet has always been aware that he's never quite gotten over his first-born being a useless girl, and has always been desperate to please and prove herself due to this.
After her father's attempts to woe and marry Belle failed miserably, Gaston slunk home with his tail between his legs, and married the first Bimbette he came across - Gigi's mother. Her mother's relationship with her two sisters fell apart pretty soon after her wedding to Gaston, as the jealousy was too much for the other two to get over. Her mother, despite having all her dreams come true by marrying the most perfect man in the world, spent her days keeping house and suffering desperate loneliness, and the birth of her baby girl Gigi was the salvation she needed. And so, Gigi had a confusing, mixed childhood - her father shunning her for the first few years of her life, her mother keeping her close as a replacement for her two missing sisters.
Her relationship with her mother was always slightly unconventional - while most girls in the village were scolded by their mothers for necklines too low, or looking at the boys certain ways, Gigi's mother not only encouraged this behaviour, but taught it. For as long as Gigi could remember, her mother treated her more like a friend than a daughter, and there were moments when Gigi would watch the other girls and their mothers in the village, and wish her mother was a little more conventional.
She had few friends at home, as mothers didn't seem to want their daughters mixing with that 'daughter of a maniac and a strumpet', and Gigi, despite her odd relationship with her mother, had lived a fairly lonely childhood. Her father, once he had grown used to the idea of her being a girl, had showered her with presents, talked of her beauty and how she would win a husband almost as perfect as he was, but never allowed her to go with him on his hunts and trips with his friend LeFou. Every time she asked he would remind her of her place; in the home, tending the fire, cooking the food, and making sure the place was perfect for his return. "It's all good practice, my princess," he would cry, "for when your husband carries you away to take care of his home and his boys!"
And so, Gigi put all she had been taught to practice. She dressed as her mother expected, her shoulders bare, her neckline scandalously low, and she fluttered her eyelids, showed just enough skin, and wooed her way through the village until every boy (and a few of the men) were willing to throw themselves at her feet. It was when the proposals started flooding in to Gaston that he realised the problem - not one of these men was suitable. They didn't have near enough wealth, and every one fell way below Gaston's rather high standards. He wouldn't have his daughter married off to any old scum! Of course, the fact that Gigi was only 14 and clearly far too young for marriage was irrelevant - if the right man came along, with the right price, Gaston would send her off without a second thought.
It was then that the topic of Seacombe Halpworth was raised. It was the perfect place for Gigi to find a wealthy prince... er... suitor, of suitable rank, of course. Gaston's mind was swiftly made up, and so off she went, her father deaf to her mother's pained wails and cries. Gigi knew her mother was devastated to see her go, losing her daughter as she had lost her sisters, but Gigi was excited - a whole new world where no one would judge her for her parents' behaviour, away from her mother's clinging embrace and her father's constant reminders of 'her place'. She would miss them, of course, but here was a level of freedom she had never experienced, and she couldn't wait.
She left with her father's instructions ringing in her ears - she was here to find a husband, she must not get ideas above her station and she should remember that whatever she learnt, her place was in the kitchen when she returned. And above all, she was to STAY AWAY FROM THE LIBRARY. Gigi works hard at her lessons, wishes she could attend princess lessons and become her father's princess really and truly, but she is barred due to her status. She is reaching her final year, and her father is getting impatient - in his view she was well past suitable marrying age, and she was treading the fine line between being an appealing maiden and a past-it spinster... but Gigi wants to remain here and study a degree. She must convince her father it's the best way to find a husband - someone who can give her the life she deserves... and so her task is always lingering in her mind, her father's approval at stake...

RP Sample: "I know, Daddy... Yes, Daddy... It's really - of course, Daddy..." Gigi sighed and glanced at the clock hanging over her desk. She'd been on the phone to her father for over 20 minutes, for the third time this week, and she still had not managed to get a definite yes from him. "But Daddy, I..." Her voice trailed off again, and she slumped back onto her pillows, phone to her ear, and closed her eyes as her father droned on.
It was the worst suggestion she had ever made, she decided. It was LeFou standards of stupid. Suggesting her parents used the magical links to install a telephone? How could she have been so foolish?
She heard her father pause for breath, and grabbed her chance, knowing exactly what to say to still him for another few days. "But Daddy, the university will be full of young men from all over, looking for the perfect wife. There'll be a whole new intake to work through - and so many princes..." She paused, crossing her fingers while her father took it in.
A smile broke across her face as she heard the words she had so desperately been hoping for. Of course "I'll consider it" wasn't a yes exactly, but it was a lot closer than "No way in hell."
"Thank you Daddy! Yes, of course I'll write to you tomorrow, yes, of course I'll write to mother too... Yes... yes... bye Daddy! I love you!" She hung up the phone, a wide smile plastered across her face. Grabbing her handbag - the one that perfectly matched her boots - she skipped out of the room, knocking on the door of the room three doors down, smirking as the door opened and a face appeared in the crack.
"Grab your purse, loser, we're going shopping."
